Library News & Services

New Item for Checkout: Bocce Balls

Spring is officially here!  The sun is peeking out again and the weather is finally warming up, which means it's time to start heading outside to play.

This year, make use of the beautiful Bocce Courts that were put into the Circle.  "But I don't have bocce balls to play with," you say?  Yes, you do!  Just check out some bocce balls from the Library!

The Library now has two new sets of bocce balls that you can check out for 1 week at a time with your library card. (Elmwood Park cardholders only)  Ask for them at the Circulation Desk, and get a jump start on your summer of fun!

Friends of the Library Donation:  Outside Bench

Help us give a big thank you to the Friends of the Library for our newest outside addition, where you can rest your weary feet on the way home from the train, or just use to sit and enjoy our Butterfly Garden on the upcoming summer days.

With our new bench we are growing our outdoor Library space.  So expect to see some more story times, gardening, and butterfly programs conducted in the back from our new bench.  Thank you Friends!

Trivia at Russell's Barbecue

Tuesday • May 30 • 7:00-9:00 p.m.

Notifications: Email, Text, A Different Language

Do you get convenient notifications about your Library material? You can be notified about when your holds are ready for pickup, when items are due soon, or that items are overdue.

You can choose to be notified via text, email, phone, or with print notices in the mail. If you want to sign up for one of these options, or change your current preference, stop at the Circulation Desk and ask someone to help you.

Or if you want to sign yourself up for text notifications, you can also go to SWAN (catalog.swanlibraries.net) and log in to My Account to sign up for SMS text messages under the Personal Information tab.

You can also choose to get your notifications in another language.  Our two biggest options are Spanish and Polish, but you can also choose from Arabic, Bulgarian, Chinese, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Swedish, and Ukrainian.

Help Us Improve User Experience

We want to make it easier for visitors to find their way around the library, and we need your help!

This summer, we're looking for volunteers to let us shadow them as they visit the Library, and answer a few questions about how we could make it easier for them to find what they need.

If you are interested in helping us out, please contact Mandy McGee, Head of Adult Services, at mmcgee@elmwoodparklibrary.org or 708.395.1240. As a thanks, participants will receive one gift branded with the Library's new logo!

Parking in Circle During Construction

You  may have noticed that construction has begun in the Circle this month, making it a little harder to park.  We have been informed that the project should be complete by end of May or early June, depending on weather.

In the meantime, if you are coming to the Library, or anywhere else in the Circle, please plan on a few extra minutes to get around and find your parking.

But don't worry if you're a few minutes late to a program, we'll be expecting it through the construction's end.

Drive and walk safe!
