We've endeavored to make printing as easy as possible at the library. You can print documents, images, webpages and more from our public computers and now you can also print from your personal devices! All of the instructions you need to get started are on this page. You can choose one of the links below to jump straight to specific instructions.
Printing from a computer at the Elmwood Park Public Library requires the use of a print card. These magnetic cards store a cash balance and are available for purchase at the front desk for $1.00. The cards come with a balance of $0.50 and more money can be added at any of the coin boxes in the library, or by staff at the front Circulation Desk.
The printing process differs depending on what program you are using but once you have told that program to print your document you will be asked to choose a printer. You can choose to:
- print in black and white
- print in color
- save your document into a .pdf file by printing to the CutePDF printer.
Black and white prints cost $0.10 per page, color prints cost $0.25 per page and saving to a .pdf file is free.
Once you have selected black and white or color a dialog box will appear asking you to supply your initials or some other way to later identify and retrieve your print job.
After you have input your initials and clicked "OK" a confirmation will appear with the total pages and total price of the job. Click OK to accept and the job will be sent to the Print Station where it will wait for you to pay and release your job to the actual printer. To save yourself time, you may print multiple jobs to the Print Station using the same ID before you pay and release.
The Print Station is a touch screen, so simply tap the printer icon on the screen and insert your print card into the box to get started.
Use the on-screen keyboard to re-enter the same initials or identifier you used at the computer you printed from to view your list of waiting print jobs.
You will then see a list of your jobs, how many pages they are, and how much they will cost. You can select multiple jobs or individual jobs, delete or preview. When you've made your selection, tap the Print button in the upper left.
You will be presented with the total price for all print jobs and then simply tap 'Pay From Vending Device' to deduct the money from your card and release your jobs to the printer.
Money will be deducted from your print card, your card will be ejected for you to take back and your job will be sent to the printer.
We recommend not closing your document/webpage or logging out until your print job has actually printed. That way, if there are problems, we can easily try again.
You can also send print jobs to us from your own devices, such as a laptop, smartphone or tablet. All you need is an Internet connection and a web browser. Click the printer icon at the top of our webpage to be taken to our Print Delivery Hub.
Once you've arrived at the Print Delivery Hub, all you have to do is select a printer, input your name or initials to retrieve the job later and then select and upload the file you'd like to print.
When you're ready to submit your print job simply click the green printer icon. When you visit the library follow the same instructions above to retrieve your print job!
