This Year's Theme:  Reading by Design

reading by designSummer reading is fun, easy, and proven to upkeep and improve literacy skills in children, teens, and adults.   What’s that you say? Summer Reading is just for kids? Nope! We have Summer Reading Programs for all ages:

Babies & Toddlers (Ages 0-3)  |  Kids (Ages 3 - Kindergarten)  |  Kids (Grades 1-3)

MidKids (Grades 4-6)  |  Teens (Grades 7-12)  |  Adults (Ages 18 & up)

So make summer reading a family affair: read some books together and come to the Library for a chance to earn some prizes!  Visit the Adult or Kids & Teens Desks to sign up any time starting June 6 through the first week of August.

Going out of town? As long as you turn in your reading log by the August 6 deadline, you can still receive your prizes.

To make summer reading even more fun, we’ll also have fun sports & game programs all summer long.  See below for some highlights, or check the newsletter or online calendar for more program offerings and information.

Summer Reading Kick-off Party

To start the summer off right, we are hosting our Summer Reading Kick-off Party on Sunday, June 4 from 1:00-4:00 p.m.  There will be games, activities, and snacks.  All ages are invited to enjoy the fun.

This is also your first opportunity to sign up for Summer Reading, though you can continue to register throughout the summer at either the Adult or Kids & Teens Desks.

Summer Reading Family Field Day Party:

To mark the end of Summer Reading and all the hard work you put in reading this year, we will be celebrating with our Family Field Day Party on Saturday, August 5 from 12:00-3:00 p.m. in Central Park, as long as the weather permits. Everyone (kids, teens & adults) who participates in Summer Reading this year will be invited to join us. It will be a fun, family day of outdoor activities and snacks, and a great way to celebrate the end of summer.

You will also be able to bring your creativity and art skills to help visiting artist Antonia Ruppert as she creates a community painting for the Library.
