Library Update - Scary movies, video games, and more

Elmwood Park Public Library

Elmwood Park Public Library Update - October 18, 2016

Library News & Services

Our Movie Matinees Get Scary!

Twice a week, every week, we show movies on our big screen in the Ferrentino Meeting Room. On Wednesdays we show new and popular releases, along with serving popcorn and drinks. On Fridays we delve a little deeper into the collection to show documentaries, foreign films, or classics old and new. Both Wednesday and Friday movies start at 1:30 p.m.

As we approach Halloween, we thought it would be fun to show some spooky films:

  • Friday, October 21: Carrie (1976 version)
  • Wednesday, October 26: Ghostbusters (2016 version)
  • Friday, October 28: The Shining (1980 version)

So grab a seat, close your eyes, and settle in for some scary movies at the Library! Or would you rather get scared on your couch instead?  Grab something from our large selection of horror movies to take home with you.

Collection Spotlight: Video Games

Are you a fan of Mario, Master Chief, Link, Lara Croft, or Nathan Drake? Perhaps you want to show off your skills with FIFA soccer, Madden football, or the Need for Speed?  Or maybe you're really in the mood to Just Dance?

Whatever your game, whatever your platform, we've got it!  We have a large collection of over 750 video games between the Adult and Kids & Teens Departments.

For adults, we have games for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, and PS4 platforms, including Assassin's Creed, Bioshock, Call of Duty, Dragon Age, FarCry, Metal Gear Rising, and many more.

Upstairs in Kids & Teens we have 3DS, DS, Wii U, Wii, PS2, PS3, PS4, XBox One, and XBox 360 games, including Pokemon, Sonic, Harry Potter, Angry Birds, Minecraft, a variety of LEGO games, and lots more.

And if the game you want is checked out, or we don't own it, we can always get it from another library that shares our SWAN Online Catalog.

As an added bonus, we also have a Nintendo 3DS XL and three DSi handheld consoles that you can check out, as well. Just ask for it at the Kids & Teens Desk.
