February - Chicago Wolves Reading Program

February 1-28 • Kids in Preschool - Grade 6

For the month of February only, kids are invited to join the Chicago Wolves Reading Program. We challenge you to read three books before February 28 so you can be entered to win awesome Chicago Wolves prizes.

New: Road Rug for Kids

Do your kids love cars and trucks?

If so, stop by the Picture Book Room to try out our new rug that has a little town full of roads and parking lots, as well as all the little cars and trucks so your toddler can drive around and explore.



Parent Teacher Conferences

February 15 & 16 • 3:00-7:00 p.m.

Staff from Kids & Teens will be visiting John Mills and Elmwood Elementary this week to host an Elmwood Park Public Library table at the Parent Teacher Conferences. We'll have some newsletters and other information about the Library, and we will be happy to answer any questions you might have!

New:  New Materials pages for Kids & Teens

We recently created two, whole new pages on our website to promote all of the new fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels, audiobooks, DVDs, and Blu-rays that we have added to the collection.

Check out the new pages below, which you can also access from the New Materials widget on the main page of our website, or from the navigation menu under Kids & Teens and under Adults:

Family LEGO Challenge (DI)

Come and complete a series of LEGO challenges at the Library for a chance to win prizes.  We'll provide the LEGOs, you provide the imagination!



T-Rexplorers - In conjunction with EP Youth Commission (RR) 

Click to sign up starting March 1 • Tuesday, March 14 • 7:00-8:00 p.m. • Ages 3-10

T-Rexplorers is a unique, science based dinosaur discovery program, where children are allowed the opportunity to handle and examine authentic dinosaur fossils.



PNG Celebrates Teen Tech Week March 6-10, 2017

Be the source of change and learn some new skills!  Join us for Teen Tech Week and learn coding, 3D printing, and more!  Sign up for each program starting March 1.

Vinyl Cutter (RR)
Monday, March 6 • 4:00-5:00 p.m.
Design & make a cool vinyl cling you can stick to any smooth surface!

Paint Your Face (RR)
Tuesday, March 7 • 4:00-5:00 p.m.
Learn Adobe Photoshop basics and use a combination of cameras, tracing on paper, & Photoshop to make a one-of-a-kind self portrait!

Ozobots (RR, no previous coding experience necessary)
Wednesday, March 8 • 4:00-5:00 p.m.
Use code to program our cute Ozobot robots to do all kinds of things!

TinkerCAD 3D Design & Printing (RR) 
Thursday, March 9 • 4:00-5:00 p.m.
This class teaches the basics of 3D design and using to create 3D objects that can be printed on any 3D printer.

Kahoot! Trivia (RR)
Friday, March 10 • 4:00-5:00 p.m.
Join us for a fun interactive trivia game using the Kahoot! Framework.



Japan-a-Fans Unite! (DI)

Tuesdays • March 14 | April 18
4:00-5:00 p.m. • Grades 7-12

Attention Manga & Anime fans! Get ready to discuss your favorite series and debate who are the coolest characters. Students in grades 7-12 are invited to enjoy popcorn and make new friends.
