Would you like to make a difference in your community and help out at your public library? Or maybe you are a student who needs volunteer hours for church or school? Then we welcome you to volunteer with us!
While not always available, the Elmwood Park Public Library occasionally has various volunteer opportunities throughout the year, including assisting us with events and programs, special projects, shelving, cleaning, and other tasks.
If you are interested in volunteering, please print and fill out a Library Volunteer Application and return it to the Circulation Desk. This will help you determine if we have the sorts of tasks that you are interested in doing, and helps us determine if you have the availability and interests that are compatible with our schedule and needs. Please keep in mind that while we will do our best to contact you regarding your application, there is no guarantee you will hear from us if we have nothing compatible at this time. (Please see our Volunteer Policy)
Thanks for your interest in helping us out!
Kids & Teens Volunteers
The Kids & Teens Department is happy to offer volunteer opportunities during the the school year, as they are available. Selected students will gain credit hours and the chance to receive letters of recommendation for job and school applications. If interested, please fill out our general Library Volunteer Application and return it to the Circulation Desk.
Students in grades 7-12 are also invited to participate in the Library's Teen Advisory Board. This group of teens meets once a month during the school year. The Young Adult Council also hosts several charity events throughout the year, supporting local organizations, and provides input on teen programming and materials.
Community Service Hours
The Library does not accept individuals referred to the Library by law enforcement or criminal justice agencies for community service hours.
