While the Library building itself remains closed to the public, Library staff are happy to offer Curbside Holds Pickup Service for Elmwood Park library cardholders beginning the week of May 26.

 

WHAT IS THE CURBSIDE HOLDS PICKUP SERVICE?

Elmwood Park library cardholders can now place holds on items they want to check out. We will gather these items as they become available and call or email to arrange for a curbside pickup. Limit one pickup per person per week. Maximum 25 items per pickup.

If your card expired Jan-June 2020, it has been automatically renewed. Unfortunately we cannot accept cards from other libraries or temporary digital cards at this time.

Books, audiobooks, magazines, DVDs, Blu-rays, CDs, video games, and WiFi hotspots that are owned by Elmwood Park Public Library.  

Items from other libraries are currently unavailable.

If an item is available, you should receive notification that it’s ready for pickup in 24-48 hours.

Holds may take longer than usual due to items being quarantined upon return.

Staff will call or email you when your materials are ready for pickup, and provide instructions.

Please do not come to the Library before you receive this notification, as your materials will not be ready.

**Please bring your library card and cell phone with you. If you do not have a cell phone, please call ahead and schedule a time to pick up your items.**

By car: Find a marked parking space in front of the Library and follow the instructions posted there. If full, please use an overflow space in front of the Parks & Rec Center.

By bike or foot:  Find a marked space for Walk-Up Holds Pickup Services on the east side of the building near the Avenue of Flags and follow the instructions posted there.

What are the hours for Curbside Holds Pickup Service?

Pickup hours are Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 12-6 p.m. (subject to change)

Regardless of hours, you may only pickup holds once you have been notified that your material is ready for pickup. 

 

How long can I keep items once I’ve checked them out?

Checkouts are 3 weeks. You can have up to 2 renewals as long as there are no holds on the item.

Please drop off material through the materials return slots at the front of the Library, or with the drive-thru in the back.

Staff will not accept returns from cars or walk-ups.

Note: Due to our quarantine process, expect that returned items may remain on your library card for up to 10 days before getting checked in. Material will be checked in fine free during our Curbside Holds Pickup Services phase.

Unfortunately, we are not able to issue new cards at this time.

What if my library card is expired?

If your card was set to expire earlier this year, it has been automatically renewed. If your card expired in 2019 or before, unfortunately you will not be able to use the Curbside Holds Pickup Service.

What if my library card is blocked due to fines?

You can pay your fines online through the SWAN Online Catalog. Just log in with your library card number and PIN.

 

When can we go back inside the building?

We don’t have a date just yet. The library continues to monitor recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), and local health authorities, in addition to the State of Illinois for guidance in our next steps and when we can introduce the next phase in our reopening plan.

But in addition to our new Curbside Holds Pickup service, we continue to offer virtual services, answering your questions via phone and email, virtual programs, access to eBooks & other digital resources, as well as our upcoming Summer Reading Program
