WHAT IS THE CURBSIDE HOLDS PICKUP SERVICE?

If you would rather not come into the Library to get library material, you may instead choose to place holds on items and then pick up your holds with Curbside Pickup.

Any SWAN library cardholder with fines under $25.

If your Elmwood Park library card was set to expire anytime between January 1, 2020 - December 24, 2021, it has been automatically renewed through December 25, 2021. Please note that if you have a temporary digital access cards, you cannot checkout physical material.

Books, audiobooks, magazines, DVDs, Blu-rays, CDs, video games, Chromebook Laptops, WiFi hotspots, and any other material that is owned by Elmwood Park Public Library.  You can also pickup Remote Print Jobs.

Items from other libraries are also available for you to place holds and checkout through Curbside Pickup.  Please note that at this time not all SWAN libraries are sending out material.

If an item is available on our shelf, you should receive notification that it’s ready for pickup in 24-48 hours.  If it is coming from another library, it may take between 4-10 days.

Once you arrive at the Library to pick up your ready items, the process doesn't take long.  Before we bring your items out to you, just allow us a few minutes so that we can check out your material to you when you arrive.

Staff will gather your holds and make them ready for pickup.

You will receive an automatic SWAN notification by text, email, or phone that your holds are ready for pickup.

*Please note that your pickup will take an extra couple of minutes so that we can check out your material to you when you arrive.

**Please bring your library card and cell phone with you. If you do not have a cell phone, please call ahead and schedule a time to pick up your items.**

By car: Find a marked parking space in front of the Library for Curbside Service.  Then use the phone number on the banner attached to the building, and follow the prompts to speak to a staff person.  We will then checkout and bring out your items and leave them on the chair marked for Curbside.

By bike or foot:  Find the marked space for Curbside Service in front of the Library by the bike racks. Then use the phone number on the banner attached to the building, and follow the prompts to speak to a staff person. What are the hours for Curbside Holds Pickup Service?

Curbside Pickup hours are:

  • Monday:  9:00 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday:  9:00 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday:  9:00 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.
  • Thursday:  9:00 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.
  • Friday:  9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
  • Saturday: 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • Sunday:  1:00 - 4:30 p.m.

Hours are  subject to change.  Regardless of hours, you may only pickup holds once you have been notified that your material is ready for pickup. 

 

How long can I keep items once I’ve checked them out?

Most checkouts are 3 weeks, and with up to 2 renewals as long as there are no holds on the item.  Click here to learn more.

 

book drop1How do I return items once I’m done?

Please return all items (except large specialty items) to the materials return slots in the front of the building, the drive-thru in the rear of the building, or to the return slots in the lobby to the right of the Circulation Desk.

Large specialty items (such as Beyond Books and Explore-to-Go Kits) that do not fit in the material return slots can be returned to the Circulation Desk during open hours.

You may now come into the Library to get a library card.

What if my library card is expired?

You can come into the Library to renew your library card.

What if my library card is blocked due to fees?

You can pay your fees online through the SWAN Online Catalog. Just log in with your library card number and PIN.

 

Is the Library building open to the public?

Yes, the Library is open its full regular hours.

 

Are you accepting donations?

As of February 8, 2021, the Friends have begun accepting donations again:  

  • Put them in the Donation Bin in the Lobby by the drinking fountain. Please do NOT put them through the library return slots in the front of the building.  Thank you.
  • Please make sure your donations are clean, dry, and in good condition
  • We are not accepting product manuals, textbooks, encyclopedias, or magazines
