Books

Are you looking for books on potty training, bullying, or learning to tie a shoelace? You can find them in the Kids & Teens Department in our Parenting collection which is located right next to Crush, the Library's tortoise, who lives over by the PNG computer lab. You can also find more books on various parenting topics located downstairs in the Adult nonfiction collection, identifiable by the big red dot on the spine of the book.

Magazines

Looking for a magazine to read while your child is playing or in a program? The following magazines are available in our Magazine section located by the Kids & Teens Desk:

  • Parents
  • Practical Homeschooling

Magazines with a new sticker cannot be checked out until next month’s issue arrives, but all back issues can be checked out for three weeks. You can also always grab a magazine to bring up from the Adult collection downstairs, as well. Or try reading a digital magazine on your tablet from our Flipster collection.

We also have several free publications available that you can take home with you to keep:

  • Chicago Parent
  • WSSRA
  • Illinois Bicycle Rules of the Road
  • Forest Preserves of Cook County - Countywide Map
