Elmwood Park Public Library Receives $295,000 — Thank You, Rep. Norma Hernandez!

Elmwood Park Public Library is thrilled to announce $295,000 in state capital funding secured through the support of State Representative Norma Hernandez (77th District) to renovate and expand our Youth Services Department. We are incredibly grateful for Rep. Hernandez’s dedication to our Library and the Elmwood Park community.

Here’s what this investment includes:

  • $85,000 for the Project Next Generation (PNG) Lab Expansion and Teen Room. This funding will allow us to double the lab's size and create a warm, inviting space where teens can gather, connect, and make it their own. Work on this project is planned for early 2027.
  • $210,000 for a comprehensive renovation of our Youth Services wing, with projects beginning over the next several months, and include:
  • Transformation of the Imaginarium into a large, flexible children’s programming space capable of hosting a wide range of youth activities and events
  • Expansion of the Children’s Room to provide more space for children and parents to enjoy reading, crafts, and so much more
  • Cosmetic improvements to the Ferrentino Room to restore it as a flexible community programming space

These improvements will create safer, more engaging, and more welcoming spaces for children, teens, and families throughout Elmwood Park. Stay tuned for updates as work gets underway!

A heartfelt thank you to State Representative Norma Hernandez for her unwavering support of Elmwood Park Public Library and her commitment to investing in the future of our community. We are truly grateful.
