It’s time for Summer Reading!  Our annual Summer Reading Program is designed to encourage literacy and learning year-round.

This year’s theme is Read Beyond the Beaten Path, so let’s celebrate the outdoors, adventure, and skill building!

All Ages • Wed., June 1 • 2-8 p.m.

Celebrate the start of summer at our Summer Reading Kick-Off Party! Drop-in to the Library to decorate a tote bag, play games, make a friendship bracelet, enjoy a tasty summer treat, and win fun swag for checking out books! 

Then, from 5-7 p.m. we'll have a Super Hero Meet & Greet with Supergirl!

This event is fun for all ages and open to the public, no registration required.

 

Summer Reading Sign up begins May 23!

All ages are invited to read, complete activities, and earn prizes all summer long. We have Summer Reading Programs for all ages ranging from babies to adults:

Read to Me (Babies-Kindergarten)  |  Kids (Grades 1-6)  |  Teens (Grades 7-12)  |  Adults (Ages 18 & up)

teen badge20Once again you will be able to log your summer reading digitally through a fun online service called Beanstack, accessible through our website and an easy-to-use app. Follow these quick and easy instructions:

  • Follow this Summer Reading Beanstack link (or download the Beanstack Tracker app for iOS and Android)
  • Click "Register an Individual or Family."
  • Click "I am registering myself" and fill out the form. 
    Note: You must provide an email address to receive notifications about prize pick-up or delivery this summer.  
  • Click "Next" to add any additional family members.
  • Register for your age group's Summer Reading Program and start reading! 

Do you prefer to do Summer Reading the old fashioned way? Stop by and pick up a paper activity log to track your reading, then bring
your log back to the Library to collect your prizes along the way!

As you read your books, don't forget to check out our fun and colorful programs this summer.

Read to Me (Babies-Kindergarten)

teen badge8This reading program is for babies, toddlers, and kids entering preschool and kindergarten in the fall.

How it works: Count how many minutes you read this summer. Read together for a total of 300 minutes (or 5 hours) to finish this challenge and earn a prize book of your choice and food coupons from local restaurants. Each time you read for an hour, you will get a ticket into one of our raffle prize drawings.

How to log minutes:

  • Make an account on Beanstack, and register for the Read To Me challenge.
  • Click "Log Reading and Activities" in the top left corner of the screen.
  • Click on "Minutes"
  • Choose the date that you read
  • Type in the number of minutes you spent reading
  • You can also add in the book's title and author and even write a review of the book (optional).
  • Click "Log"

 

Kids (Grades 1-6)

How it works: Count how many minutes you read this summer. Read for a total of 600 minutes (or 10 hours) to finish this challenge and earn a prize book of your choice and food coupons from local restaurants. Each time you read for an hour, you will get a ticket into one of our raffle prize drawings. Remember that reading eBooks and graphic novels, listening to audiobooks, and being read to all count as reading.

How to log minutes:

  • Make an account on Beanstack, and register for the Kids Summer Reading Program challenge.
  • Click "Log Reading and Activities" in the top left corner of the screen.
  • Click on"Minutes"
  • Choose the date that you read
  • Type in the number of minutes you spent reading
  • You can also add in the book's title and author and even write a review of the book (optional).
  • Click "Log"

 

Teens (Grades 7-12)

How it works: Count how many minutes you read this summer. Read for a total of 900 minutes (or 15 hours) to finish this challenge and earn a prize book of your choice and food coupons from local restaurants. Each time you read for an hour, you will get a ticket into one of our raffle prize drawings. Remember that eBooks, audiobooks, and graphic novels all count as reading.

How to log minutes:

  • Make an account on Beanstack, and register for the Teens Summer Reading Program challenge.
  • Click "Log Reading and Activities" in the top left corner of the screen.
  • Click on "Minutes"
  • Choose the date that you read
  • Type in the number of minutes you spent reading
  • You can also add in the book's title and author and even write a review of the book (optional).
  • Click "Log"

 

Adults (Ages 18 & up)

How it works: Read two books to enter into our summer reading raffle. You'll earn another raffle entry for every additional book you read. The more you read, the better your chances to win! This year, three lucky winners will receive a $100 Visa gift card in the mail! We will contact the winners the week of August 15th. Good luck, and happy reading!

  • Make an account on Beanstack, and register for the Adults Summer Reading Program challenge.
  • Click "Log Reading and Activities" in the top left corner of the screen.
  • Click on "Books"
  • Choose the date that you finished your book.
  • You can type in the book's title and author and even write a review of the book (optional).
  • Click "Log"
